Warren, w/his gilt initials to covers), bevelled edges, a.e.g., pale yellow ep.s w/binder's ticket (Bone & Son) to rear pastedown, [i-iv] v [vi], [1-2] 3-183 [184-85] cardstock pp. w/numerous illus. engraved in colours by Edmund Evans after Foster.  Printed by Edmund Evans, London.  Inscribed to verso of fr. ep.: "Rosa Jane Hicks, the gift of her uncle John Hicks, July 24. 1862"; also inscr. in pencil to head of half-title: "From the Buckley Collection" & "Pence."  Loosely inserted at rear is a panel & flap from what could be the original dust-jacket.  Binding Very Good (extremities moderately bumped & worn); contents Good (lt. tidemarks to outer edges of 1st & final few leaves, & infrequent foxing).  McLean 1974 53 (repr. in colour--"perhaps the most sensational of all the cut-out paper and gold blocking bindings"), Ray 239 ("thanks to Evans's brilliant coloring, the detailed engravings of flowers in this book are among Foster's best illustrations.
